Information Collection and Use

We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our services to you.

Zero logging policy

The entire infrastructure of Revcode and its services are constructed with focus on privacy and security. We do not log any activity of our customers.

Data protection

All accounts with services offered by Revcode are fully encrypted, where only the end user has access to their account and its contents. Revcode can’t provide any information regarding the activity of its users, nor logs about its users even in the event of receiving a court order asking to provide such information. The only information we can provide is the account information on file and associated payment data.
However, it requires that the court order is for a specific person and that the authorities want to verify if the person in question has an account with us.

To be able to offer excellent integrity, Revcode encrypts all accounts and data traffic using industrial standard implementation of end-to-end encryption (AES-256 with a 2048-bit Diffie-Hellman key), where only the customer has the ability to access associated content using their credentials, including but not limited to a password and PIM (whose value controls the number of iterations used by the header key derivation function).

Revcode doesn’t possess the ability to access encrypted account information on servers, traffic data or backups.

Applicable laws

An important thing to consider when choosing an IT service provider is where the company is based. This is partly with respect to a particular country’s laws on inter alia privacy, data sharing, and other relevant issues.

Revcode’s legal entity is based in Sweden which means that we are subject to Swedish laws and regulations. We are transparent on how we handle data and it is important that all processing is carried out in accordance with applicable laws.

As earlier stated, we do not log or store any user traffic or activity of any kind. However, some storing of data is required by law (e.g. accounting and payment records).

Below follows a list of some relevant laws to Revcode. We retain attorneys to help us monitor the relevant legal frameworks in Sweden, and keep us up-to-date with any new developments.

  • General Data Protection Regulation (2016:679) (GDPR)
The GDPR is a regulation which harmonizes the rules throughout the EU relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and rules relating to the free movement of personal data. The regulation applies to processing of personal data wholly or partly by automated means, and to the processing other than by automated means of personal data which form part of a filing system or are intended to form part of a filing system. Companies established within the EU are subject to the regulation even if they are not processing personal data relating to persons within the EU. Thus, the regulation applies to Revcode’s processing of personal data regardless of which country the users are based.
  • Act (2008:717) on Signal Surveillance for Defense Intelligence Activities
This piece of legislation gives Sweden’s National Defence Radio Establishment (FRA) the authority to carry out surveillance on cross-border communications (for example  phone calls and internet traffic). Other countries do so similarly. To protect electronic communications crossing the Swedish border, consumers may use a VPN service to protect their user activity, which is fully compliant with Swedish law.
  • The Electronic Communications Act (2003:389) (LEK)
LEK is the Swedish law that implements the EU Directive (2002:58) on Privacy and Electronic Communications. LEK covers all electronic communications networks and electronic communications services. According to LEK’s definitions, LEK does not apply to Revcode, since we are not regarded as an electronic communications network nor an electronic communications service.
  • The Swedish Code of Judicial Procedure (1942:740) (RB)
According to this, a search of premises may be instigated not just on the individual who is suspected on reasonable grounds but on anyone, provided that there is a factual circumstance and that it can be tangibly demonstrated that there is a reasonable expectation of finding items subject to seizure, or other evidence of the offense in question. Objects may also be seized if they are believed to have importance for the investigation. However, as earlier stated, the only information we can provide is the account information on file and associated payment data. It is required that the court order is for a specific person and that the authorities want to verify if the person in question has an account with us.

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA), Revcode legal basis for collecting and using the user information described in this Privacy Policy depends on the User Data we collect and the specific context in which we collect it.

Revcode may process your User Data because:

  • We need to perform a contract with you
  • You have given us permission to do so
  • The processing is in our legitimate interests and it is not overridden by your rights
  • For payment processing purposes
  • To comply with the law

Retention of Data

Revcode will retain your User Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. Active accounts will have data retained indefinitely. When an account is closed, all associated data is immediately deleted from relevant servers.

Revcode will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer periods.

Transfer of Data

Your information, including User Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside Sweden and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including User Data, to Sweden and process it there.

Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

Revcode will take all the steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and no transfer of your User Data will take place to an organization or a country unless there are adequate controls in place including the security of your data.
